Wigram & Ware Ltd. is a practice of independent optometrists and opticians which has been serving King's Lynn and West Norfolk since 1920.

We pride ourselves on providing a friendly, professional service from a team of fully qualified, dedicated and experienced practitioners. Our success has been built on a desire to meet the needs of individual patients and their families. We are delighted to offer eye care at all ages; from infancy through into the later years of life.

As a company we are committed to a continuing programme of development and improvement through regular staff training, modernisation of equipment and increasing co-operation with the local medical fraternity.

Our dispensing services are supported by a fully equipped modern laboratory, situated at our Dersingham practice, through which we provide a fast, accurate and reliable manufacturing and repair service.

King's Lynn

Our newly opened King's Lynn practice is conveniently situated on Blackfriars Street, opposite the main Post Office in the town centre. We are just a short walk away from the St James' multi storey car park and there are a number of parking spaces in front of the practice where you may park for up to half an hour free of charge.

Dersingham

We are ideally located at Jubilee Court on Hunstanton Road, the main road through Dersingham. Take the A149 from the Hardwick roundabout in King's Lynn, following signs for Hunstanton. At both the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Knight's Hill roundabouts, take the second exit (straight across). After approximately 4 miles you will reach the Hunstanton / Dersingham roundabout, take the second exit (Lynn Road) and follow into the village past Budgens. You will find us on your left adjacent to Rounce and Evans Estate Agents and the village pharmacy. You may use the car park free of charge for an unlimited time.

Practice Facilities
At Wigram and Ware we strive to provide our patients with the latest in ophthalmic care. In King's Lynn we have two fully equipped consulting rooms plus further facilities devoted to specialist clinical examination, and we have a single downstairs consulting room in Dersingham. When calling King's Lynn, please state whether you require an appointment in our ground-floor consulting room. The practices are comfortably furnished with air-conditioning throughout to make the time spent with us as enjoyable as possible. With our on-site laboratory in Dersingham we are able to provide a fast, efficient, quality-controlled spectacle manufacturing service. A repair service is also available that can provide a solution to problems created in an unforeseen emergency.

Company History

Wigram & Ware has been providing eye care to the residents of King's Lynn and West Norfolk for over eighty years. The company was founded in 1920 but there had been a practice in King's Lynn, run by Mr Francis Wigram since 1912, when the Wigram family acquired an opticians' business from Charles Hyman who had been practising in King's Lynn High Street and Cambridge for a number of years earlier.

Mr Francis Wigram (nephew of the founder) was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive in the 1950's and he ran the business until it was sold in 1989 to the present owners, Mr Peter Hutchinson and Mr Kevin Smith. In recent years Wigram and Ware has expanded to include the new Dersingham practice, and the King's Lynn branch moved from New Conduit Street to Blackfriars Street and has been modernised, re-equipped and the staff increased to manage the increasing demand.

Wigram and Ware Dersingham opened in May 2003 providing eye care to Dersingham and the surrounding villages. The practice offers a central location with free parking and has proven popular with existing and new patients alike.

The new King's Lynn practice opened in August 2006 and offers a high standard of optical care in a modern, airy environment, to patients new and old!
