Advantages

There's never been a better time to wear contact lenses.

One of the main advantages of modern contact lenses is the wide choice available making them suitable for your eyes, lifestyle and pocket. Thanks to new designs and materials, they are now very comfortable and affordable. As independent opticians, we offer a wide range of contact lenses and are able to provide you with the ones best suited to your needs.

A Guide to Contact Lenses

Soft Lenses

Modern soft contact lenses are made from gel-like plastics that allow oxygen to pass freely to the eye. The initial comfort provided by this type of contact lens makes flexible wearing patterns possible.

Daily disposable lenses are the most popular for intermittent wear and are a hygienic, hassle free and affordable option. If you don’t want to wear contact lenses all the time but only want them for sport or socializing then these are ideal.

Monthly Disposable lenses are for those who wish to wear contact lenses on a regular basis. These are made from sophisticated materials and designs that make them suitable for more complex prescriptions including astigmatism and presbyopia. Contact lenses for bifocal and varifocal wearers make it possible to be without glasses for all aspects of vision.

The latest Silicone Hydrogel materials offer the possibility of extended wear which can include occasional overnight wear or enable contact lenses to be worn for up to thirty days continuously.

Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses

Rigid gas permeable lenses are made from firmer plastics than soft lenses, making them more durable with a longer life span. They are particularly suitable for certain prescriptions such as high degrees of astigmatism and specific eye disorders such as keratoconus, where they give very good vision. Initially they are less comfortable than soft lenses and take a little longer to get used to but regular wearers find them very comfortable.
